Lao Shi, Dipl. O.M. (NCCAOM), MAOM, L.Ac Daoist Abbot & Priest

My journey began at age 8 when I met an elderly Chan Buddhist monk. From the moment I first laid eyes on him, I felt like I had fallen down the rabbit hole and have never reemerged. Born to Daoist parents from the Hua Mountain sect of the Complete Reality (Quanzhen) school of Daoism, he was entered into a Buddhist monastery at age 6.

As I began my training with him, he raised me with a curriculum that included the core of the Chan (Zen to the West) doctrine and scriptures along with the teachings and scriptures from the Complete Reality (Quanzhen) school and Orthodox Unity (Zhengyi) school of Daoism.

As he was the medical monk for our little monastery, he raised me with an understanding of Classical Chinese Medicine, Martial Arts and Daoyin, deep philosophical and mystical practices about the nature of reality and our place within the universe, and a deep personal connection to my own Inner Cultivation as a means to freeing myself from the sorrows of being trapped inside an ego and the illusion of this world.

In fact, one of the biggest quotes that he would recite to me over and over is "nothing exists, all things are becoming". After living and training with him for almost 10 years, my journey as a Wandering Daoist began as I traveled around the world.

For the next 20 years my travels took me to over 50 countries and lead me to study with masters and teachers from all walks of life including Sufism, Qabalah, Hermeticism, Gnosticism, Zen, Yoga and many different indigenous peoples, all in an effort to gain a deeper understanding of the Way.

After everything I've done and experienced, I have learned two great secrets:

First, the magic of life returns when you learn to add two secret ingredients: you must learn to accept and allow everything in life to be what it is.

And second, the only thing worth dedicating your entire life to, comes down to this: you must come to know thyself.

In 2010 I accepted ordination as a monk in the Orthodox Unity school of Daoism. In 2012 I founded the Four Dragons Institute in order to teach all those interested in living an authentic life.

Then in 2014 I visited the Daoist temple on Qingcheng Mountain (which was the first Daoist temple created) and I became ordained a Daoist Priest in the Dragon Gate sect of the Complete Reality school of Daoism. The following year I was made an Abbot of the Qingcheng Mountain Daoist Association, Houston branch.

Since then, I began teaching Daoism full time, both in person and through distance education, for those looking for self discovery and for those who wish to become ordained so they can help others as well.

I now travel all over the world teaching workshops, lectures, and seminars .

I am a 21st Generation Longmen (Dragon Gate) Daoist Priest, President of the Board of Directors for the Dao Li Jiao (an organization committed to understanding the Way of Reason), a Diplomat of Oriental Medicine certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), a Licensed Acupuncturist in the State of Texas, a professional member of the International Medical Veritas Association (IMVA) as well as a Zheng Yi Daoist Priest.
